Missoni is known for its fabrics with very colourful herringbone, stripes or geometric patterns and for its mix of warm and sparkling colours. But who is behind this fashion house?
Missoni is an Italian fashion house. Today on its website, the company offers haute-couture collections for women and men, and luxury accessories. But the company also creates accessories for the house: poufs, cushions, plaids, bath linen and also bed linen. The Missoni duvet cover is in the brand's colours and transcends the bed linen into a true work of art for your bedroom.
The history of Missoni
Missoni was founded by former athlete Ottavio Missoni and his wife Rosita Jelini in 1953. The history of Missoni is a story of encounters. On the one hand, Ottavia Missoni, who opened a woolen sportswear workshop after the Second World War, which was selected to equip the athletes at the 1948 Olympic Games. On the other hand, Rosita Jelmini Missano Octavius, daughter of a tailor in the Varese region. The two met during the Olympic Games and married in 1953. They opened a small knitting workshop in Gallarate, near Rosita's home village. The brand was to enjoy a series of successes and lucky encounters until 1969, when the Missoni collection was noticed by Diana Vreeland, then editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine. Following this meeting, Missoni opened its first boutique at Bloomingdales. What started out as a cottage industry has become an international empire.
