Chanel is originally a French haute couture and perfume house. Created by the mysterious Gabrielle Chasnel, nicknamed Coco Chanel. The house was born out of the creativity of this secretive woman, whose unhappy childhood gave her relentless ambition and a desire to take on life. It was after meeting "Boy" Capel, that Coco Chanel was able to really start her activities as a stylist, with the opening of a milliner's salon called "Chanel Fashions". In 1913, the couple stayed in Deauville where she opened a small boutique called "Gabrielle Chanel" which sold hats, then jackets and skirts. The Deauville boutique was a great success. In 1915, they open a third boutique in Biarritz. Coco Chanel imposes her vision of fashion: she wants to liberate the woman's body, shortens skirts and eliminates the waist, at a time when some women still wear corsets. Her boutiques benefited from the clientele of the wealthy society that had retreated to these two seaside resorts during the war.
From Chanel n°5 to the Chanel duvet cover
Today the Chanel company records a turnover of $9.62 billion (2017). In addition to haute couture, and perfumery, it has developed ready-to-wear, watches, jewelry, eyewear and cosmetics. Victim of its success, Chanel products are widely counterfeited. You will find counterfeit Chanel bags, perfumes, make-up... and Chanel bed sets.
But these are not really counterfeits because Chanel does not offer bed sets. However on the internet, on sites like Amazon or Rue du Commerce, you will find duvet covers with Chanel patterns or sets with quotes from the founder Coco Chanel, but not all these items are made by the brand.
