Cotton percale is a technique of weaving cotton. It is made with the longest cotton fibers.
The selected threads are woven very tightly and evenly, which gives the fabric great quality and resistance.
To bear the name Cotton Percale, the fabric must be composed of at least 78 threads/cm2 (a standard cotton contains 57 on average) and it can go up to 120 threads/cm2 or even beyond in the case of very high-end linen, which is however very rare.
Cotton percale is very popular in bedding, it gives a soft, smooth and light fabric, very comfortable for bedding and durable over time.

Cotton percale is often mistaken for a type of cotton, but it is a weaving technique. Cotton percale is a fabric woven with the longest fibers of cotton.
Percale is a weaving method, it does not necessarily mean a 100% cotton fabric, in fact percale can be made with various materials (cotton, polyester...) or even a mixture of materials.
What is the best fabric for sheets?
Cotton percale is a very good choice of fabric for bed linen. Indeed, the tight and regular weave of this fabric brings a very high quality of fabric which will not pilling over the washings.
The cotton percale is soft to the touch, smooth and light which brings a great comfort of bed.
How to maintain cotton percale?
Cotton percale is a simple fabric to maintain. Indeed, cotton percale sheets are machine washable at a maximum of 40°. Cotton percale has the particularity of becoming softer with each washing, so you can become addicted to it!
It is recommended to wash your cotton percale sheets before using them for the first time, this washing will allow you to eliminate the pieces of thread and other dust due to the handling of the fabric.
Thereafter, washing your sheets every 7 to 10 days will limit the accumulation of dust, bacteria and other external pollution.
As for drying, air drying is the best option, however if the dryer is essential, opt for a moderate temperature and make sure to remove the sheets before complete drying.
Ironing is possible on cotton percale but not essential, at your convenience.
